George's Journal - Day 53: Never Felt So Alive

February 22nd, 2024

Another day, another song writing session - this time with Adam Friedman and Bryan Brundage. It's a bit of a slog to get to the session as it's all the way in Santa Monica (about an hour from our accommodation with that delicious LA traffic) but it's worth the drive. A beautiful apartment near the ocean. It's good vibes all round with Adam and Bryan, and we end up crafting a song called "Never Felt So Alive", which once again draws on our recent struggles, but with a positive spin - we might be hurting, but it's these times that make you feel alive.

We take a short break to go and see the ocean, my first view of the ocean in nearly 6 months. Then I can't believe my luck when on the walk back to the apartment, I run into RJ Mitte, the actor who plays Walt Jr in my all time favourite show "Breaking Bad". I manage to snap a quick photo and have a little chat with him before heading back to finish off the song.

After some fun recording group vocals and a bit of banjo, Amy and I head back to our Airbnb where it's Mexican night at the nearby Taco truck. It's very authentic and super duper tasty. A delicious end to a delicious day!

Until tomorrow,

G-Shep xx
